How to Be Honest With Yourself
It’s going on 3 AM and I’m walking down Folly Beach puffing on a cigar. As I look out over the ocean I feel at peace.
I’ve been following this routine for years.
There’s something special about walking by the ocean at night. Other than a few couples making love. It’s just me and the ocean.
Looking over my shoulder I see a small beach town. Drakes new song God Plan is blasting in the distance.
Yet here I am blowing smoke and pondering my life.
You see I went down to Florida and had a sweet deal. I’m not going into the details, but it was the perfect job.
The owner is not only a great guy. He is also one of the most real dudes that I’ve ever met. He’s the ultimate guy to learn from.
Money wise I’d be making more than most American couples make in a year. It’s the kind of opportunity that you can really make a place for yourself.
The more value you offer the more you get paid. Basically, it’s how every job should be. Everyone earns their keep and is treated with respect.
But I have to be honest with myself….
Do I really want to be working this job for the next 10-30 years?
And the answer is no.
They say you don’t always like to hear the truth. That’s the case for me as I walk through the water.
Working with my friend while enjoying the Florida good life. All while building a new social circle of high performers.
It sounds perfect.
Hell within a year I’d have my very own condo in Sunrise, Florida. Maybe even buy a place in downtown Ft Lauderdale.
Living in Florida would bring me….
- Connections
- Money and responsibility
- Top tier girls
- My own condo or house
That’s all before turning 26. Yet here I am back in Charleston with nothing but myself and the ocean.
I’m not going to lie I’m a little scared. I’d be lying if I said anything different.
I’m scared because if I stay in Charleston I’ve only got one option. And it ALL depends on me being intentional and ruthless with my focus.
Otherwise, this year will just fly by with little to no change.
I’m at a crossroad where I can go left or I can go right. If I continue going left my group of friends/my friend in Florida will turn their back on me.
This whole being your own man gig isn’t for most. At times I feel like I’m crazy for even giving any of this time.
But I really believe that I can make things happen.
Because I’ve got a message, the skill to bring it out, and I don’t care what it takes. That’s why I talk about personal topics.
To me it’s just my life so why not share it.
Articles such as me overcoming suicidal thoughts. Have brought a good chunk of people to this site and my email list.
Even me writing about giving myself permission has reached the right people.
In all honesty, creating content is something that I’d do for free. Which I did for almost 3 years on this site alone.
I eventually went pro after having a realization.
Which leads me up to this current moment. My cigar is almost finished and I’m ready to head home and get some rest.
I’ve got a great day ahead of me.
I love the work that I do:
- Creating content
- Groundskeeping
- Mysterious gig (I’ll tell you more in a month)
It wasn’t until recently that I started enjoying what I do. Before that it was just go go go. With no taking in all of the sights.
From 2015 to now my life has zipped by. And I can only imagine it’ll continue to zip by as I take on more work.
I sacrificed many things, people, and countless job opportunities. Why? Because I’m crazy enough to believe in myself and vision.
But it all started with me being honest with myself.
So if you have your own path. Whatever it may be. You’ve got to be honest with yourself. Otherwise, you’ll live in limbo.
It doesn’t matter if you want to be doctor, stripper, or travel the world. Just get real with yourself and own your decision.
How to Be Honest With Yourself
To be honest with yourself requires you to have clarity. The best way to get clarity is by having a script.
I’ll speak for myself and the 1,000+ other people. Having a script is the difference between chaos and clarity.
I’m not a millionaire yet. So I’m not telling you that having a script is going to deposit millions in your bank.
However, one reader used his script and Craigslist to make $15,000 in a month.
That’s life-changing money right there.
But what I’m telling you right now is this….
If you get your script and then put in the work. There’s no reason that you can’t make millions or achieve anything that you earn.
Because unless you work for what you want. You’re dealing with the what if’s of life. And I don’t dabble in that stuff anymore.
I simply stick to my script and then reap the results.
So instead of buying my book Think and Go Hustle. I want you to take this Script Creator which is from my book.
Read it and then create your script.
From there you’ll have clarity and can finally be honest with yourself.

Your friend,
You’ll make the right decision brother.
For the time being, it would be 8-10 hour days 6 days a week. I’m not against those kinds of hours. However, I know where I’m going and just need to follow the steps.
I want to see more ebooks in the future from you, so I can buy them.
What format do you prefer? Kindle, Paperback, PDF.
Thank you for another great comment Daniel.
Wow, powerful article. Felt like I was there at the beach too. I been there too, a lot. I’m there now in a way kind of, not career but another crossroads, my gut is telling me what I should do, I know what I should do, it’s just a hard decision to make because it would result in a radical change…but I have to do it.
I don’t know about 10-30 years but it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to do it for a couple of years if the money is really good and it’s 40 hours a week or less. Could easily do this blog at the same time.
Doesn’t really matter if you do or not though honestly, you already make a decent living now + have all your time and in a couple years you’ll probably be making some big bank from this blog anyway. + you got all that free time to side hustle so… yea I feel you on that one. Not an easy decision.
I want to see more ebooks in the future from you, so I can buy them. Don’t really care what it’s about just enjoy the writing style & personal touch to the articles. I’m sure you’ll figure out something good for us,
Take care
