Greatness: Not Everyone Is Born To Be Great, But Everyone Can Become Great

Location: The Lion’s Den

Hey my friend I am sitting at my desk enjoying the nice breeze come in through my window. This past week I did a lot of back-end things such as redesign my blog and have been working hard on a few other projects.

Earlier this week as I was driving down the road I passed a homeless guy on my right and then on my left was a guy pulling out of the Maserati dealership with what appeared to be his new car. A thought came rushing into my head, “Not everyone is born to be great, but everyone can become great”.

Isn’t it interesting how some people just seem to have that “magic” touch on everything that they do?

They seem to have the world bow down before them whenever they decide to do something.

But then you will see this one guy who works his ass off and things seem to always fall through the roof.

I was once one of those guys where I would get all hyped and do the necessary things to achieve it, but then something would happen and I wouldn’t get it.

I used to feel like there was some force outside of myself that was preventing me from getting it. That caused me to get frustrated and lose faith in my abilities.

It wasn’t until years later that I realized it was my mindset and the my beliefs that were holding me back.

You see my friend even if you don’t have that “magic” touch you can still achieve greatness in all of your objectives. Start by developing a strong mindset and erase your self-doubt.

Everyone out there has an inner Olympian that if harnessed will allow you to achieve great things. Of course I do not mean that there is some type of genie inside you that will give you all your desires just by asking and not doing.

Instead the Olympian within you is your true self. It is the you that has total faith in their abilities and has no fear. In a previous article I wrote about how you can master fear so check it out if you haven’t mastered it yet.

You can have heaven on earth and I truly believe that as a fact. Life doesn’t have to be some miserable journey in which you go through everyday hating every moment.

Your life should at all times be happy and you should feel fulfillment from your day. As you know, your life is entirely up to you and it is not my place to tell you how to live.

All I can do is point you in the right direction by showing you things that have worked for me personally. Your life is your domain and so you are responsible for what happens within it.

It is up to you on what type of relationship you have, what your bank account looks like, and if you’re out of shape or in shape. If you want to go live on the beach what is stopping you?

It isn’t the lack of money or the lack of connections it is you. I learned a while back that if you truly want something you will do it, but if you don’t then you will come up with an excuse.

That leads me to the point of this post. If you want greatness then it will not be given to you like it is for some people. You will have to take it for yourself. There will be late nights, heartbreak, and loss of people close to you.

Some people will tell you to get real because your vision for your life is illogical. What makes them qualified to tell you that you can’t have everything that you want?

You’re right, absolutely nothing. The reason they don’t believe in you is not because they don’t love you, but because they have settled with life.

They might have given up on their dreams, but not you. You have found this blog because you and I are the same. Not the same as most people are, but we have similar thoughts and want more out of life.

If you truly want greatness then what is stopping you? Don’t let your parents, loser friends, or your partner keep you from it. Go out there and make a name for yourself. Rise to the top and become what you want. You are the King of Your World.

Rise up Olympian's and nothing in the world will keep you from greatness.

Rise up Olympian’s and nothing in the world will keep you from greatness.

Start this very moment to envision your life and how you want it to be. I have an exercise that I want you to accomplish:

  1. Go to a room that has a mirror.
  2. Look at yourself in the mirror.
  3. See yourself for who you are at this current moment. Even if you are a loser and not where you want to be in life that is okay. All that matters is that you follow this exercise.
  4. Now close your eyes and imagine what you want in life as already yours. Take all seeds of doubt out. If you didn’t have to worry about money where would you live and what would you do?
  5. At this point you probably have this feeling of happiness and power so open your eyes.
  6. See yourself as the person you want to be and say, “I will myself to become that which I desire”.

This exercise might sound funny, but I used it in the past and saw a change in how I approached life. What will make this work or not is entirely in your mind.

Remember that in life most things are mental. I do not affiliate myself with most of the self-help teachings out there because most of them only get you hyped up, but don’t really help you have lasting change.

There is good material out there such as Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill which I would highly recommend you purchase .

What are the points that I want you to get from this post?

  • Develop an Olympian Mindset and kill self-doubt.
  • Believe in yourself.
  • You are responsible for your life and everything in it.
  • Greatness is something that you must take.
  • Don’t let anyone keep you from getting the life that you want.
  • DO NOT SETTLE.

I hope you learned a lot from this post my friend. If you apply it I am certain you will start to see a change in how you carry yourself. This will probably be the end of this series for now, but who knows I might release more. I will be writing about a few other topics over the coming weeks and look forward to sharing it with you.

Until next time go out and Dominate Your Life.

Your friend,

  1. I like the exercise that you suggest here. I think that if you’re doubting yourself and can’t even envision yourself succeed, there’s very little you can actually achieve, no matter how hard you work. Look yourself in the eye, in the mirror, and believe in yourself. No go, get it.

Thank you for this great article.

  2. Dylan,

You do a good job making your readers feel like you’re having a one on one conversation with them. That’s very important in the blogging world. This article is a great way to make people realize that everythig is mindset! Without the RIGHT mindset, how likely are you to achieve your goals? I love the example about the guy in the maseratti and the bum on the street. Thanks for sharing.

  4. One of my favorite peices on Way of the Olympian. Alot of self doubt really is the manifestation of fear itself. Nice post

  5. I enjoyed this, Dylan. I felt like we were just at a bar, chilling, and having a great chat. Really good conversational tone to the piece, and a great message too.
