The Magic Pill Mindset
There is a problem in today’s world. A problem so serious that it is killing any chance people have of ever living the life that they want. Continue reading so that you can protect yourself and then leverage it.
This problem is the Magic Pill Mindset. You’ve more than likely heard about the Magic Pill Mindset in the form of instant gratification and other forms.
Before we get into exactly how to beat the Magic Pill Mindset let’s look at where it came from.
Origins of The Magic Pill Mindset
Table of Contents
The Magic Pill Mindset is rooted in human nature. We naturally want to live a life of comfort and ease.
The way you combat this by developing discipline. Discipline is one of the only things in this world that you truly have control over.
Nobody can take it from you and nobody can give it to you. It is something that you must follow through with.
But let’s take a step back in time to the 1930’s. In those days consumerism as we know it was still young.
A man by the name of Edward Bernays was building a name for himself. He was the guy that invented Public Relations.
Edward was quoted as saying, “There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
He viewed humans as irrational and acting on impulse. His books became the foundation on which businesses and governments molded the habits of society.
If you’re interested in reading some of his work, I recommend you start with his book Propaganda. I’ve only browsed it and I was taken away.
His work is what the Marketing Gods of today use to keep you searching for your next easy fix. They’ve sold the world on some magic pill to fix all of their problems.
The Magic Pill Mindset of Weight Loss
When it comes to weight loss you are told that if you take a pill then you’ll lose weight. What the company doesn’t tell you is that it only works if you follow a diet and workout routine.
They don’t tell you that you have to eat clean food, cut out soda, and feel hungry. Why would they? If they told you that you would actually have to work then you wouldn’t buy their magic pill.
I myself believed this lie. In high school I wanted to lose weight so I started taking a fat burner. After a few months and over $100, I didn’t notice much of a change.
It wasn’t until I started reading into weight loss that I realized that fat burners are almost entirely a waste of money.
The only time that a fat burner will help you burn fat is if you’re already lean. If you’re fat then you’re just wasting your money.
To lose weight you need to eat less than what you take in. You have to hit the gym and you have to eat clean.
Don’t let the Marking Gods steal your money. Instead, keep your money and get the basics down first.
The Magic Pill Mindset of Success
Now let’s talk about the magic pill when it comes to success. This is an area where they kill any chance of the average person ever tasting success.
You’ve been told about the overnight successes and laptop lifestyle. You get on Instagram and see these people living the life.
What you don’t see however is that they are miserable. Behind the scenes they hardly make any money.
Heck, they don’t even know how to make real money.
All of their money comes from selling people like yourself products like, “How to Make Money From Your Bed”.
They take advantage of you. You come looking for answers but then they use your Magic Pill Mindset to sell you easy ways to make money.
I’m going to be brutally honest with you. Making money takes time. Yes, there are overnight success stories.
Some kid may create an app and sell it for millions. But those kinds of things don’t usually happen.
There is a 9 out 10 chance that it won’t happen for you. But luckily that isn’t bad. Instead of hoping for your break, you can create it.
How do you create your own break?
You create it by putting in the work. It really is that simple.
I’ve learned that money and success is all about momentum. Stuff I did a year ago is starting to pay me today.
The same is true for success and whatever else that you want in life.
Instead of buying books about how to make easy money just put in the work. Don’t dream up some grand scheme because you will end up overthinking.
Start out simple. What I did was start hustling on the side. You can start a side-hustle and before you know it start bringing in some extra cash.
From there the world is your oyster. You can quit your job or you can put away that money for a rainy day.
How to Destroy the Magic Pill Mindset Once and For All
To destroy the Magic Pill Mindset you have to start simple. You’ve been brought up since birth to want things easily.
But if you’re willing to put in the work.
Here’s your next step…
Thank you Peter.
Repetition is king brother. Well done.
Once you realize it’s a lifestyle it is easier to control. This applies to fitness and many other things.
We all thought it at one point :)
Yes, it is a lifestyle.
Few understand it. I myself though it was one and done. Here I am a year or so later and can say it’s a lifestyle.
The most outrageous thing about the whole getting buff and losing weight thing is that people don’t even come to the idea that it is a lifetime commitment!
Glad you liked the article John. Just keep working on yourself my friend.
The magic pill mind-set is so prevalent today in society that doctors write prescriptions to pills that basically do nothing. Even after this knowledge is acquired I still consider myself as nothing special. Timely article
Great inspirational article. Going above and beyond is difficult for most people! I know it’s cliche but YOLO is true as hell. I’ll def be tuned in here.
Thank you Robert. This is something most people today need to learn. Nice site by the way.
Dylan, you hit the nail right on head. That magic pill everybody looks for won’t fix the problem. You have to do what it takes.
