Make Your First $1,000 With Craigslist

Is is possible to make $1,000 with Craigslist? I didn’t think so until I did it and then I did it again and again.

You see when I got started with Craigslist I was broke. I had just come back from living in Los Angeles with nothing but $142 to my name.

So it wasn’t like I had a bunch of money at my disposal. My situation was sink or swim and I sure as heck wasn’t going to sink.

I quickly got to work going to different places from Habitat to Humanity to Goodwill. The first couch I bought was $80.

Within a few days I flipped that couch on Craigslist for a $120 profit. That’s when I knew this was something that I could make money with.

After doing a little digging around I started putting the pieces together.

I found something called the “Free Section” of Craigslist. It was there that I started striking flipping gold.

People were getting rid of their couches, chairs, and tables. All I had to do was come and take their items off of their hand.

At that point I started making a steady profit.

Because all I was having to pay for was a Uhaul (Home Depot is cheaper) and gas. From there I’d get home and upload my items to Craigslist.

Then I’d take the money from selling my free items and get nicer items from Habitat for Humanity.

Things such as the entertainment center that a friend of mine and I picked up. We’d load it up in his truck or rent a truck if we had to.

how to make money on craigslist

I used this method until I got to $2,000 a month. Eventually I started getting involved in other things such as maintaining properties.

So that’s why I’m sharing this information with you. First off, I’m not in the Craigslist business anymore.

Secondly, this information will put $1,000 in your pocket. Potentially your first money outside of your job.

Whether you just want to pay your car payment, pay off debt, or have some money set aside.

You can do it with Craigslist.

How to Make $1,000 on Craigslist?

When it comes to Craigslist you want to focus on a few key things. If you do, you’ll start making money quickly.

  • Buy Low Sell For Profit
  • Find items that sell
  • Take great pictures
  • It’s all Math

Buy Low Sell For Profit.

The name of the Game is to sell items for more than you paid. So if you pay $25 for something, you want to sell it for $40 or more.

Doing so creates a profit for you.

Even better you can use a strategy where you pick up free items. Then turn around and sell them.

By doing this, you’re profiting massively.

Personally I’ve sold free items for up to $125.

Which means that I profited by $125 for something which I paid nothing for.

Find Items That Sell.

The great thing about Craigslist is that you can see what’s’ selling. Even better you can test items with a few clicks of a button.

But let me give you a list of what to sell:

  • Couches
  • Appliances
  • Coffee tables
  • Electronics

List any of these items and you’ll profit.

Of course there are many more products that’ll sell well.

Start with these however and then learn what the market in your area likes.

Take Great Pictures.

Would you agree that when you’re shopping online, you wouldn’t buy a product that has a terrible picture?

Yes of course you wouldn’t.

So when it comes to selling your own products, make an effort to take great pictures. In my case….

I take pictures of the item and then a picture of me using the item.

Doing so allows your customer to see themselves with the product.

It also allows them to see that the product is worth their money.

Using your smartphone you can snap 2-3 pics and then upload it straight to Craigslist within 3 to 5 minutes.

Instantly people who are on Craigslist will see your post and be able to email or text/call you to buy it.

It’s not unusual for people to make $200-$800 in a week selling free items.

Take a look at this guy who made $800 in a week:

It’s All Math.

Once you start getting free items or buying items from Habitat for Humanity/Goodwill, it’s all math.

To make more money you just need to post more items for sale.

Whether that’s higher profit items or tons of little products.

5 couches at $100 profit each = $500.

10 electronics at $15 profit each = $150.

Now you see how this is all Math.

If you want to make more money with less effort you focus on selling higher profit items.

So if you want to make $1,000 quickly you’d sell 10 couches.

With each couch you’d aim for $100 profit per couch. Now depending on your area there are other sites that you can use to sell items.

But for the time being focus on leveraging Craigslist. As you can see it’s easy to use and profit from.

In high energy.
