In today’s episode of MBM Declassified I tricked Colston into going on a day trip to Abu Dhabi. But instead I booked us flights to Muscat, Oman.

Best Places to see in Muscat, Oman
If you’re in the city of Muscat, there’s plenty of places to see. You can realistically see everything within 3 days which is great if you don’t have much time there.
- The Chedi Muscat
- Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
- Mutrah Fort
- Royal Opera House Muscat
- Mutrah Souq
There’s much more to see if you’re interested in historical areas. However, the above is plenty to get you started.
How to Get Around Muscat, Oman
When we first arrived at Muscat International I was impressed with how nice the airport was. Immigration was nice and asked me how long we’d be staying. Make sure to tell them the exact amount of time you’ll be staying as that’s how long your visa will be for.
(You can easily extend the visa by going to the airport and speaking to the Immigration police.)
As for getting around, just take a taxi from the airport to your hotel.
From there, you will just download an app called Otaxi Oman. Uber and Bolt isn’t available there. The rides are cheap and accept most debit cards.
How are Prices in Oman
As with most places in the world, you will pay for what you get. Meaning, if you stay a luxury hotel like The Chedi Muscat you’ll be paying a few hundred a night. Versus if you stay at a regular hotel you’ll be paying $100 a night. If you’re from the USA the hotels will blow your mind even at the cheaper price points.
Yes there’s cheaper and much more expensive options. Just go with whatever fits your budget.
Food was also affordable.
On average I was spending about $200 a day on food.
Is Oman Safe?
Yes, Oman is totally safe for any of you traveling the world. The people are very welcoming to foreigners and crime is basically nonexistent.
Obviously, use common sense but you will be totally fine whether you go out at night or during the day.
Is Oman it to Go to Oman as a American?
As an American Oman is definitely worth visiting. Ignore any stereotypes you’ve been told about the Middle East. It is very safe and the Omani people are extremely welcoming.
You will enjoy your stay and get to experience a new culture.
