When you Google how you can make real money on the side, you generally get tons of scammy content. In this article I will show you how to make real money on the side.

Why I Made This Article

I created this article because there are so many people looking for a side hustle.

Sadly out of the 2 good articles there are a thousand bad ones.

Currently I am going through a transition in my life that is kicking me off the cliff.

Will I go broke or make more money than I ever have?

Well that is up to me.

All I have to do is believe in myself and Take Action.

This article will be a good starting point for you with making money on the side.

Your Expectations

What you and I will cover can make you $50 to $1,000 a week.

Possibly more, but the most I have made was a little over $1,000 in a week.

As with other things that I show you, it is entirely up to you to Taking Action.

If you want to make $1 you can.

Or you can make $10,000.

Got it?

Let’s us continue…

Type Of Side Hustles Covered

side hustle

Now that you understand it is up to you and you have the right expectations, let’s begin.

In this article you and I will cover the following:

  • Ridesharing
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Drop Shipping
  • eBay
  • Private Label
  • Offline Services
  • Car Flipping
  • Upwork/Fiverr

The 6 side hustles above can make you some good money on the side.

If you are only making $350-600/week you could easily supplement that income with a little work.

I won’t cover detailed strategies in this article.

If you have specific questions then I would be happy to make a article about it.

Ridesharing has been around for some time now, but is becoming a normal occurrence.

If you have heard of Uber or Lyft, those are two of the most popular Rideshare companies right now.

I was speaking to a guy the other day who is retired and does Uber as a part-time side gig on the weekends.

He claimed that he brings in $500 in a weekend.

As for the amount of hours that you would have to drive to make that kind of money I do not know.

I’ve read quite a few stories of people doing Uber and Lyft as a full-time job.

What I really like about Ridesharing is that you can make your own schedule.

With Uber when you want to work you activate the app and then click Go Online.

When you are ready to stop driving you simply click Go Offline.

They claim that drivers can make $20-30 an hour in most cities.

I just started with Uber and will start driving this Weekend.

After I have gathered real experience, I will give you more information about it.

Something that I like a lot about Ridesharing is that you work when you want too.

If you are able to make enough money to pay your bills and live, then you can fit it more time towards your real business during the down time.

Getting started is as easy as uploading a few documents and getting an inspection.

Uber is running a sing up bonus right now that can put $150 in your pocket.

If you are wanting to start working on your own terms and want $150 click below.

Affiliate Marketing-

I have touched on Affiliate Marketing in more detail before so I will keep this short.

Affiliate Marketing is when you promote a person/companies product and get a commission for each sale.

Example of Affiliate Marketing in action:

As for how profitable Affiliate Marketing can be entirely depends on you.

Below are some figures from a now taken down affiliate program. (3/15/2017)

Here is a picture of January sales from my “Why Adderall Sucks Compared To Kratom” article:

upgrade your life by making money

Of course $73 isn’t anything to get excited about, but I got paid for something that I did on May 26 of last year.

Not only did I get paid last month, but this month I made another $49.

how to make money with a side gig

Just imagine if you had a string of well written Affiliate articles on your website.

You could bring in a decent amount of money on the side.

Affiliate Marketing isn’t limited to just writing articles either.

You can also record podcasts or video’s

I did this video for New World Ronin:

As with most things in life you are only limited by your creativity.

You can be as creative as you want to be when coming up with ideas for Affiliate Marketing content as long as you don’t go against their TERMS OF USE.

If you have a platform (Which You Should) why not get paid for using products that you love?

Drop Shipping-

Drop Shipping is a easy way to start a business that can generate some nice profits if you do it right.

I am helping a good friend of mine build his store (he is doing all of the work).

He will be able to generate $50 a day soon.

The Niche that he chose is harder to get into for products that have good profits, but he can branch out once he is established.

There are hundreds of crappy products in his Niche but once he finds what he wants he will be able to make good money.

So far he has put around $130 into getting setup.

With the Drop Shipping business Model you are the middle man.

Here is a basic look at what this Model looks like:

  • Steve looks for camping gear
  • Steve finds your website and decides to buy some gear
  • You have marked up the price so you keep your cut and send the wholesale price to the Manufacturer
  • The Manufacturer ships the product with your label on it to the customer
  • You keep the difference: Wholesale Cost Is $25, You Sell For $45, You Keep $20

Drop Shipping can be a good side gig for someone who wants to run a real business with a low startup.

The beauty of Drop Shipping is that you don’t have to keep inventory sitting around your house.

If a product doesn’t sale, you haven’t wasted any money on investing into it.

To get more information on Drop Shipping and how to start a store with Shopify click here.

I haven’t hustled on eBay in years, but I know a few guys here in Charleston who do it full-time.

Their setup is pretty impressive.

They have their entire garage filled with inventory and they have a spot for taking well lit photos.

Upstairs they have a office with several computers so that they can monitor each listing and look for more products to add to their inventory.

Back when I did eBay I would go on Craigslist and buy phones that had broken screens or easy fixes.

After I had them fixed I would sell them for more than I paid and keep the difference.

There are better and more profitable ways of running your eBay store today than just using Craigslist.

You could check out Yard Sales and believe it or not you can actually Drop Ship on eBay.

For someone who doesn’t want to mess around with creating their own website you could start an eBay store.

The downside to running an eBay store compared to running a store through Shopify is that you don’t have as much control.

But as I said if you don’t want to mess around with creating and tweaking a website then eBay is the way to go.

Private Label-

When it comes to starting a Private Label company you can make higher profits, but you also have to invest more money into it.

Unless you already have good data that your products will sell I recommend not starting a Private Label company.

What many people do is start a Affiliate site or Drop Ship store around the products that they want to Private Label.

By doing so they don’t put much money in it and are able to test whether the products will sell or not.

If your Affiliate site or Drop Ship store sells well, you know that you have a good chance of being successful with a Private Label company.

What are some ideas for Private Label you ask?

  • Supplements
  •  Electronics
  • Clothes

There are many different products that you can Private Label.

Do not rush the gun on this side hustle.

If you do you, will find yourself with thousands of dollars worth of products that don’t sell.

But if you still want to move forward here are some resources to research products:

The above resources are a good start for the time being.

You get to put your logo on a product and build a real brand around it.

You can make higher margins.

I may make a post on Private Labeling some day.

Offline Services-

This is where many people start with making money on the side.

Before I knew about filing Taxes and having licenses I started a Computer Repair hustle.

Within a short time I was able to get some local companies to do business with me.

For some reason unknown to me they trusted me enough to work on their computers without asking for me to show them my licences other than a Certification I had.

But I never got to complete any orders as my parents found out and put a stop to it.

This opened my eyes as a teenager.

I learned that there was more to business than just getting customers.

You have to protect yourself.

But back to how you can start an Offline Service business that you can start making money on the side with.

Here are the most common Offline Services that people offer:

  • Cleaning Business
  • Computer Repair
  • Tutor
  • Consultation
  • Web-Design
  • Personal Trainer

Some Offline Services (depending on the State) don’t require a Business License “technically”, but it is always better to be safe.

A large number of people who don’t want to start an Online business will stick with offering Offline Services.

Most of the time the Startup for a business like this is low.

It really depends on which business you start.

A cleaning business for example would be cheap to start.

You would need a business license which in my city goes for $90.

Cleaning supplies is also generally cheap.

Gas isn’t that expensive so unless you were travelling very far, you wouldn’t have to put out much money for gas.

The best way to get started with a cleaning business is the following:

  • Start A Basic Website
  • Print Out Business Cards
  • Get Any Type Of Licenses You Need
  • Call Or Go To Local Business/Reality Companies To Pitch Your Services
  • When You Get A Client Offer The Best Service You Can
  • Be Unique

Making money on the side with an Offline Service business can be rewarding.

The key to making it in business is standing out from the crowd.

There are 100’s of businesses that offer something similar to what you are offering.

What makes you better or unique?

Car Flipping-

If you are interested in cars this will be a great way for you to make money.

Car Flipping follows the Business Model of “Buy Low, Sell High”.

You want to look for cars you can get cheap and then fix them up.

After you fix them up you can sell them for much more than you paid.

To get the most out of this type of hustle you should either be good with cars or know someone who is.

Let’s say you go on Craigslist and see a car for $3,500 with some minor engine problems.

From there you know it will cost you $147 for the parts.

This is a repair that you can do, so you won’t have to pay anyone to do the work for you.

You will need to invest $3,647 into the car.

After the taxes and other expenses you have spent $3,800.

This car can sell easily for $5,000 used.

After you sell the car you will have made $1,200 pure profit.

Of course some deals you will only make a $400 profit, but you get the jist.

Breakdown of making money from Car Flipping:

  • Find Car That Requires Work That Is Selling For Low
  • Do Work Yourself Or For Discount From Your Mechanic
  • Sell For What Market Will Pay
  • Reinvest Profit Into Another Car
  • Repeat Process

In today’s world many people have also turned to Freelancing as a side hustle.

The two platforms that most Freelancers use are Upwork and Fiverr.

If you have any type of skill that people will pay for, you can make a nice sum of money from it.

When people talk about Upwork and Fiverr they mainly talk about writing content or something similar.

But there is so much more out there!

If you are good at Photoshop there is a huge demand for that.

If you know how to edit video’s there is a demand for that.

There are countless ways you can start making money on Upwork and Fiverr.

Working on one of these platforms is a great way to not only get better at your skills, but also make some money while you do it.

The next time you think about spending your day off watching the latest TV show, why not make some money honing your skills?

You might be turned off by the fact that some of the gigs only offer $5 or $10.

But there is so much more money to be made on these platforms.

After you get a good reputation you will be able to charge much higher fee’s.

I was able to get one of the best articles on the subject of Freelancing on Calm and Collected. If you feel like Freelancing would be up your alley then check out the Guest-Post that was featured on this site.

Do not limit yourself to what you can achieve.

If you put in the work, you will be able to turn this side hustle into another stream of income.

Another person that I consider a friend wrote a great book on making money on Fiverr.

He has the numbers to show that he knows what he is talking about.

His book Conquering Fiverr goes into great detail for every aspect of building a successful Fiverr business.

  1. Great blog post Dylan – I enjoyed it a lot actually. Also watched your RED Coffee review. I’ve gone the freelancing route – kind of. Instead of Fiverr I’m operating independently however. I find it better that I do things where I have as much control as possible. Sure it’ll be a lot more work and has cost me a lot more money, but I feel it will be worth it.

  2. Great post. Private labeling is the key. Buy something from Alibaba, put your brand on it.

  3. Ok… so if I follow your article and it does not work, will I get $500 from you? ;-)

In seriousness – I am making money for a friend posting ads on Craigslist and learnt that CL – though looking “ghetto” – makes a lot of money. People are on there explicitly to buy, not to surf around.

A friend of mine realized that there are no proper leather purses for doctors and surgeons. So he developed the design, let a company in Asia develop the purse, tested it and now sells these cases regularly.

Some opportunities to make money are right out in the real world with the internet only serving as tool.

    I appreciated your article!

    • Or you can give yourself $500 :).

That is very interesting. I haven’t heard of people doing that.

I’d love to hear how it continues to go.

Glad you liked the article friend.
