How Networking Can Help You Land More Clients as a Freelancer

The ability to network is by far one of the most valuable and powerful skills you could ever hope to develop. It’s no accident that all successful people have connections all over the world.

Their network reaches far beyond the limited scope of what lies directly in front of them. It is the difference in reaching an audience of 100 people vs an audience of 10,000 people.

How Networking Can Help You Land More Clients as a Freelancer

Networking has been one of the major elements to my overall success. Over the course of the past 5 years, I have focused on expanding my network and producing work that offers true value to others.

In return, this has allowed me to develop relationships with powerful people, which has accelerated my path to success. From best selling authors, to movie producers in Dubai, to well known influencers.

Mastering this skill will give you the chance to receive opportunities that were previously beyond your reach. It will allow you to work, and learn from people who are perhaps far smarter than you, and possess knowledge that you don’t.

It is the key to opening doors that were previously closed to you.

Lead with value

You need to ask yourself, why would someone want to network with me? What value can I add to their life?

If you cannot answer this question, then it’s time to think of ways that you can provide something of worth that will improve this persons life.

Develop yourself into someone that people would want to work with. Become a problem solver and offer your services without expecting anything in return.

If you are a genuine person and you produce consistently good work, that person will be far more likely to help you one day, and it will be because they want to, not because you asked them to.

People always ask me how I network with authors, ambassadors, rappers and other high profile figures.

There is no secret, there is no manipulation or hacks. It all comes down to you being an actual human being who wants to progress.

When people see that you have a genuine desire to learn, and are willing to humble yourself, and accept that maybe they know something you don’t. They are far more likely to want to connect with you.

So when you reach out to someone who you would like to work with, show a genuine interest in their business and look for ways you could potentially solve problems they may be having.

Offer your services, and expect nothing in return.

Who you know is far more important than what you know

As you develop your business, you will inevitably reach a point where you want to expand and connect with an audience that is currently beyond your scope.

This is where it pays to know people in high places.

For example, I could decide to launch a product right now and I could market it to my current audience. This would certainly yield positive results, but if I truly wanted to make an impact on a larger scale, I could send a message to a few of my friends.

My product and service is now being seen by far more people because of relationships I built up overtime, with people who have a larger audience and far greater reach than I do.

So, if you want to develop a large audience, you need to start interacting with people on a daily basis. Make sure you are following people who inspire you, and who have values that align with your own.

Comment on their content, share their posts and eventually approach them via DM or Email when you have something to offer.

It has been said in previous posts, but networking is what gave me the opportunity to work with Victor Pride and meet people like the Tate’s, Justin Waller, Stirling Cooper and other successful figures.

I make sure that I am someone people like to be around and that I bring something valuable to the conversation.

I lead with value and that is part of what has helped me get to where I am today.

You can do it too, you just need to change your thinking from “What can this person do for me?” to “What can I do for this person?”

If you want to affect millions, then you need to be able to reach millions.

Always the best,
